Borussia Von Bay started in 2015 with a Pokal Final, a tough loss, and a group of fans in San Francisco who weren’t ready to call it a day. One round turned into a few, strangers turned into friends, and by the end we decided this should happen again.
Ten years later, it still does.
Matchdays at Danny Coyle’s can mean a packed bar, scarves up, and the kind of energy that spills out onto the street. Or it can mean 6:30 in the morning, a foggy San Francisco sunrise, and a handful of us watching Dortmund grind through a match while the rest of the city sleeps. We’ve had plenty of both, and we keep showing up.
We don’t rush off at the final whistle. Afternoons stretch on, and new faces get pulled into the group quickly. Visitors are welcomed in, often finding themselves exploring the city with us later that day.
Along the way, a cockapoo named Reus became our unofficial mascot. He usually has his own bar stool and is easily the most popular one in the room.
We’ve also made several trips to Dortmund, especially around Weihnachtsmärkte season, bringing a piece of this group back to where it all began.
For us, supporting BVB is about more than football. It’s about commitment, connection, and carrying Black and Yellow with us, no matter the time or result.
